Coach Lombardi is right, let’s stand and cheer for the doer!  There are countless Leads members that push up their sleeves and get down to work.  They do not worry about doing it the ‘right’ way, or if they will make a mistake, they focus on doing.  Nothing can move without actions.  There may come a time when, like our favorite Super Heroes, we can just have a thought and the sky will cloud up, but not yet.  We live in  action dictated times. 

And in times like these, where every newspaper headlines is screaming the doom and gloom of our world, just push your sleves up and get to work.  Talk to people, listen, get involved.  And business will move, it will grow.  Remember Ralph Waldo Emmerson said. "The only thing that will grow is the thing you give energy to."  Give energy to taking action each day on building success for you and your fellow Leads Club members!

You are not important.  The challange is to create conversations for  others so that they see the value of what we offer.  It’’s like you want to see the  lightbulb go off in their eyes.  Let them shine.  Appreciating and understanding our customers or potential customers is key. Our personalities or style is secondary. 

Your reputation is your greatest advantage.  You may not be important, your reputation is vital to your success.  It’s not product, price, or service.  Everything comes from your reputation. You build reputation by building honor, trust, keeping your word, being on time to meetings, doing what you said you would do.  Reputation will build you strong referrals, customer loyality and honest communcation with your clients.

Very inspiring and true words.  I always remember when a clerk or salesperson goes the extra step to insure giving me that exceptional experience.  I remember each time I am served with a smile, a gentle touch or when quality is word one, not quality.  In these financial times, it will be that extra effort that will make or break a sale, a client relationship, or turn an adversarial possibility to a committed customer for life.  This is the time to give …a little bit more. 

It’s a hard lesson for us, but ‘conscious cooperation’ will always produce results greater than individual endeavors.  Team work divides the effort and multiples the effect.

Let’s go into this more deeply. For example in a pulling contest at a county fair, the first place horse ended up moving a sled weight 4,500 pounds.  The second place finisher pulled 4,000 pounds.  The owners of the two horses decided to see what these horses could pull together.  They hitched them up and found that the team could pull more than 12,000 pounds!  When coupled together, their synergism produced an added 3,500 pounds.

In a small village there was a custom that helped the villagers size up the future happiness of a newly married couple.  After the wedding in the local church, the village women would escort the bride and groom to a nearby forest and stand and watch them cut down a tree.  they would hand the young couple a two-handed bucksaw and ask that they use it to cut the tree down.  the closer the cooperation between the man and wife, the shorter the time it took for the tree to come down.  And the older villagers reasoned that, the shorter the time the happier the couple would be because they had learned that the most valuable lesson of marital lessons-teamwork!

1. Be certain you have rapport with the people you are referring.  They respect you and have respect for what you say and whom you associate with.

2. Advise each individual or corporate representative that you intend to bring them together, and the benefits of that liaison. 

3. Get agreement from both parties to meet, at least by telephone for a quality discussion. This defines the time and commitment and openness to meet

4. Facilitate the initial introduction, a three-way call is quick and easy.

5. Do a simple follow up call or email to both parties to ensure they are moving forward to meet. If they’ve decided not to continue find out what is behind this.  You will be further educating yourself on the effectiveness of your referrals.

Remember, your referrals are a representation of you and your professionalism.
